I was born poor in Haiti and immigrated to the U.S. as a teenager, speaking no English. Since then, I have educated myself and lived a very successful life. I decided to write a book, Girls Can Move Mountains: Rewriting The Rules of Female Entrepreneurship, so that other women might see themselves through my story and be inspired to be their best selves in all aspects of life.
I have given countless young ladies pieces of advice throughout my professional career. Often, they would tell me, “I wish you had a manual for success.” Well, my book is not a manual, but it is a place where I share my heart and heartaches and what it took to retire comfortably enjoying the fruits of my labor.
My book was published on Valentine’s Day 2020; several press and media events had already been booked for the launch. Unfortunately, the world faced an unknown deadly virus known as COVID 19. All in-person events were canceled, giving birth to virtual meetings via Zoom and other online streaming platforms.
During one of these live virtual events, a participant reached out to me and wrote in the direct chat: “Can You Help Me Find My Voice?”. That one question led to many offline conversations over the year. I never met her in person, yet I was able to help her find her voice.
It is because of this lovely young lady and her powerful question that moved me to go beyond my book and to help even more women. As a result, The Voice of Girls Can Move Mountains, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was born.
Voice of Girls Can Move Mountains (VOGCMM) is a 501C3 created to celebrate the international award-winning book, Girls Can Move Mountains, authored by Dr. Solanges Vivens. Its mission is to reach as many low-income women 18 and over as possible and support and help them find their voices. We offer exciting environments where these women in need of mentorship convene and learn potentially life-changing tools and strategies. Board members and guest speakers travel internationally to meet with participants of VOGCMM at zero cost to participants.
The book, Girls Can Move Mountains, shares Dr. Viven’s life story, empowering women and teaching them her 25 Rules of Female Entrepreneurship. In addition, the book is written in three languages along with an English version of an audiobook, ensuring we can reach a multitude of women without language being a barrier.
Women learn firsthand how Dr. Vivens moved her mountains and overcame incredible hardships in life. Participants are given this book, at no charge, to read along with instructions on creating their own plan for success. The goal is for participants to learn how to move their mountains and succeed.
